WHAT SINS MIGHT TRIGGER GOD'S RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT ON A NATION? The biggest reasons God's wrath came on nations include: Idolatry (people trusting themselves and the works of their hands, worshipping things other than the Lord). Sexual immorality (any sexual activity outside of God's biblical design for marriage and purity). Lack of proper care and justice for the poor. Celebration and glorification of sin. Hatred and mockery of the word of God. Blasphemy against God. Child sacrifice (killing babies and offering them to idols, abortion is a type of child sacrifice, as well). Mistreating Israel. Greed and covetousness. Oppression of certain people and groups. Religious show. Corrupt religious leaders. Israel's rejection of the Messiah, Jesus. There are no righteous people remaining. WHAT KINDS OF JUDGMENT DOES GOD BRING ON SINFUL NATIONS? Generally, God's judgment comes in the form of one or more of the following: Military defeat Evil and/or incompetent kings/rulers Plagues Drought Famine Death from wild beasts Natural disasters Eventually, God will pour out His full wrath on nations during the 7 Year Tribulation period, especially during the last half of it. WHAT CAN WE DO TO STOP GOD'S RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT FROM FALLING ON OUR NATION? We can personally repent of anything God calls sin in our own lives. We can plead for God's forgiveness for our nation and His people, standing in the gap for them. We can seek to obey the Lord and cherish His Word. We can lead our children in righteous ways and seek to raise them to know, love, and honor the Lord. We can stand for God's truth and His Life giving Word. We can seek to promote godly justice and set people free from oppression. We can share the gospel of Jesus and encourage everyone to turn from sin and turn to Jesus to be saved and transformed. Sometimes a nation's sin is so severe that God doesn't respond to prayers for those people anymore. He withdraws His hand and allows the people to reap the consequences of their sin and desires. Things can get so bad that the Lord says that even if Noah, Job, and Daniel were here to pray for these people, they could save only themselves by their righteousness—ie: When His judgment was about to fall on Judah for their many sins, (Ezekiel 7 9.) WHAT CAN WE DO IF GOD'S JUDGMENT FALLS ON OUR NATION? If the Lord decides it is time to bring His holy and righteous judgment against our nation, we can't stop Him. But we can seek to walk rightly ourselves and stand in the gap as much as possible. We can trust Him and continue to seek and love Him with all our hearts. We can invite Him to use our lives for His glory and seek to be faithful. We can seek to reach many who are lost and point them to hope in Jesus. We can be willing and available instruments in God's hands. We can trust God to be with us and to lead us through. We can remember how the Lord often removed His people before judgment fell (Noah, Lot and family) or marked them to spare them from His judgment (Ez. 9, the 144,000 during the Tribulation). We can be ready each day for the Lord to call us home or to return to take His Bride home in the rapture. Want Salvation? Turn away from your sin. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23 B = Believe that Jesus (God in the flesh) died on your behalf to pay the price for your sin and to give you a way to be right with God to be forgiven. He lived the perfect life you couldn’t live. He died the death you deserve and rose from the dead in victory over sin, death, and the grave on your behalf! “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord.” Rom. 6:23 C = Confess that Jesus is your Lord this means, Jesus is now your Master and you live your life for Him and His glory rather than for yourself. You say it out loud to others and you live it from now on. You lay down your will and your desires and follow Him, inviting Him to direct and use your life for His will. “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.” Rom. 10:9 10 Lordship Salvation https://www.gotquestions.org/lordship salvation.html Billy Graham: Have You Heard the Good News of Salvation? https://billygraham.org/.../have you heard the good news.../
