ShareJohn L. Cashin, Jr. (1928 2011) was a prominent Civil Rights Movement leader, cofounding and chairing the National Democratic Party of Alabama (NDPA) in 1967. He was integral in racially integrating his native city, Huntsville, Alabama. In 1964 he ran for mayor of Huntsville, and in 1970 ran against George Wallace for governor of Alabama.
