God often uses images from nature in His Word to communicate with us to make it easier for us to understand. In Jeremiah 17, God uses two kinds of trees to show us what our relationship with Him can be like. One tree stands alone and does not receive any benefits of living in a community. The other tree bears fruit and withstands any harsh conditions that may occur. It’s a picture of the two choices we have to make: trust in the Lord and become someone who flourishes, or abandon what He says and experience the consequences. The choice is ours.
